Trip Summary

I'm back from my trip to MI! I think my interview went really well. It felt more like a conversation with the director and head of youth services than an interview. They are going to interview 2 other people this coming week, but they wanted to talk to me enough that they adjusted their interview schedule so I could interview while I was up there! I'm hoping this is all a good sign. They told me they hoped to make their decision and notify everyone 2 weeks from when I was there. Rest assured I will keep things updated here about it!
My trip was nice. I will be getting my braces off on my next trip to the orthodontist which is awesome. I'm so ready to be done with them. I also got to see my friend Brad who is currently in the Peace Corps in Albania. He was home for the week with his saved up vacation time from the last year. It was great to see him and catch up on everything. He is giving serious thought to extending his term and staying 1 or 2 more years in the Peace Corps, although he would like to go to a different location to spread his work around. I think this is something he was made to do, it's the perfect thing for him, and I could tell from talking with him that he really loves doing it. In addition to Brad I got to see one of our other church friends and meet her new boyfriend. She is doing great and is really excited to graduate from med school next month and start her residency. She and her boyfriend are looking at moving in together when she starts, one to save on costs and two to have someone there to help her out with things since residency is going to be crazy.  I had a great time up there and am praying I get the job so I can go back. It was so hard to leave and get on the plane to come back to the south on Thursday. The cold weather, friends and familiarity of home were hard to leave. And I didn't have time to go see my boyfriend since it's an 8 to 9 hour drive from where I was to where he is, but if I get this job we will at least be in the same state and could meet each other half way more often.
I did a lot of knitting (and reading) on the plane.
I finished up the first sock for my brother and made a mini sock out of the same yarn for me!

I also designed a sunglasses case for my new purple shades. I also forgot to bring a button with me, so I made one! I love the colors, and while it's a bit bigger than I had been planning for, it will work perfectly with what I wanted it for.

I also read The Salamander Spell which was funny and charming. I now need to pick up the other 4 books in the series and read them. Since it's about a 4th-5th grade reading level they go pretty quickly. And I listened to City of Bones, the first book in the Mortal Instruments Series. I listened to the last disc this morning. Unfortunately since it's a library copy it's been well loved and the last two discs were scratched pretty badly. I'm going to have to go check out the hard copy next week and re-read the end to figure out what I missed when the cd was skipping. But I'm also going to need to get the rest of the series as well. That is if I can find them because the next one in the series (book 4 or 5 I think) comes out on Tuesday, so they might all be checked out with people re-reading for the next book. I also learned on Twitter today (because I follow Cassandra Clare) that her other series intertwines with this one, and they should be read in published order. I'm going to have to look all this up and find the time to read it all!
